Ingredients
- 4 frozen waffles
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp. honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup of fresh strawberries, cut into slices
- Optional 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting
- Stranger Chocolate Sauce (for topping the waffles)
- Butter (toasted icing waffle garnish)
- Whipped cream
Instructions
- Toast the Waffles: Start by browning the waffles until golden and crunchy, or stereo that with a little butter in the toaster or on the stovetop for added flake and fats. Leave them to cool down a little.
- For the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a tiny bowl, board cream cheese, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. Feel free to sweeten it up more by adding a little extra honey if you want.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay one toasted waffle in front of you and slather a large layer of the cream cheese mixture on one half. Cover with a layer of sliced strawberries filling the cream cheese toppings.
- Top with the Second Waffle: Top with the other toasted waffle and slightly press down to make a sandwich.
- Optional Garnish: Sprinkle the sandwich with confectioners' sugar for a snappy finish, and if you are truly being indulgent, add a spoonful of whipped cream.
- Serve and Enjoy: Eat the sandwich in one go or slice it and eat. Serve this with some sugar-free syrup if you like, but the waffles are amazing all on their own.
Tips and Variations
- Waffles: Want to really step things up a notch? Make your own waffles instead of using store-bought frozen. If you want your waffle to match the theme emphasized by the mockery, try adding some cinnamon or vanilla extract into your mix or whatever if it would make any sense or harmony between the strawberries and cream cheese on there.
- Mixed Berries: Instead of strawberries, use a mix of berries like blueberries, raspberries, and/or blackberries for a colorful and alternate flavor.
- Spruce It Up: Drizzle the jalapeño jam with balsamic glaze for a more elegant, sweet, or savory twist.
- Add a nutty crunch: sprinkle chopped almonds or walnuts between the layers.
- Sweeten them Up: Treat these as dessert sandwiches by serving with vanilla ice cream between the waffles with the lotion cheese and strawberries.
- Lighter Recipe Idea: Replace the cream cheese with Greek yogurt and a little bit of honey to perhaps boost some protein into the recipe.
