Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 200 ml of chili flakes (hot factor dependent)
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup of water (thickener)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce for more flavour
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add water, sugar, and rice vinegar to a pot with chilli flakes or add chopped peppers, minced garlic, and salt. Stir well.
- Simmer: Gently bring to a boil over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes or so until thickened slightly (stirring here and there).
- Thicken the Sauce: Whisk together the cornflour and water in a small bowl to make a slurry. Add the milk-vinegar mix to your pan with a slow pouring stream while stirring continuously. Continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
