A super tasty mix of Vietnamese spices and Cajun zing is the Viet-Cajun. This dish, Viet-Cajun, is spicy, crispy, and full of flavor. Together with fried Prawns, it gives the best combination. Fresh prawns are mixed with a batter and fried till they are crispy. Flip them with a rich mix of chili-garlic sauce. For people who love seafood or want something cool and different, this recipe is going to be your new favorite!
Ingredients
- 1 pound of Prawns(16-20 large Prawns)
- Vegetable oil for Frying Purpose
- 4 Tablespoon Butter
- 2 smashed Garlic
- 2 Tablespoon of Fish Sauce
- 2 Tablespoon Chilli Paste
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 Tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon of Garlic Powder
- 1 Tablespoon of Onion Powder
- 1 Tablespoon of Lime juice
- 1 Teaspoon of Paprika
- ½ Teaspoon Salt
- ½ Black Pepper
- ½ Cup Buttermilk
- Fresh Cilantro, Lime Slices for garnishing
Instructions
- Get the Prawns Ready: Wash the Prawns with Cold water, dry them with Tissue paper, and keep them aside.
- Make the batter: Take a bowl, add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, flour, salt, cornstarch, and Cajun seasoning. Now mix them well and keep aside. Setup Buttermilk in another bowl.
- Coat the Prawn: Dip the Prawn one by one in the Buttermilk, then cover it with flour mixture till they are coated well.
- Frying the Prawns: Take a pan and add vegetable oil to it and heat it until it's hot. Now take the coated Prawns and fry them in the oil for around 3 to 4 minutes till they get crispy and golden brown. Take them out using a small spotted spoon and drain the extra oil with the help of tissue papers or towels.
- Make the Viet-Cajun Sauce: Take the Butter and melt it in a pan over a medium flame. Add smashed garlic and salute it to 30 seconds. Add fish sauce and chili paste to it. Stir them equally, and at the end add lime juice, then simmer it for at least 2 minutes.
- Toss Prawns in Sauce: So, once all the prawns are fried, flip them softly and gently in the buttery spicy sauce till they are fully covered.
- Serve: Now Lastly, garnish the fried Prawns with lemon slices and fresh cilantro and you are ready with your yummy recipe. Now it is ready to serve. Enjoy when it is hot with rice or noodles, or you can take it up alone to have its unique taste.
Tips and Variations:
- If you want extra crunch, then mix panko breadcrumbs with flour for more crispiness.
- Adjust spice level by adding more or less chili paste or splash some hot sauce if you like it fiery. Add them according to how you prefer the taste.
- Add lemon juice to the sauce for a tangy twist.
- Looking to be healthier, then you can also fry it in an air fryer at 200°C for 8 to 10 minutes with a halfway flip in between.
